Baby dumping heartbreak

A case of concealment of birth was opened at Witbank Police Station.

Another gruesome discovery was made in a dustbin, where a baby was dumped like rubbish.

This past weekend a full-term baby body was discovered in an industrial dustbin at Saveways Crescent Centre on Saturday, July 10.

Witbank Police was contacted to attend a scene where cleaning personnel made a horrid discovery of a full-term baby dumped in a centre ‘wheely’ bin.

The cleaner was busy with routine duties of emptying the rubbish from the ‘wheely’ bins placed around the centre into the skip placed behind Saveways Checkers.

A black bag was discovered as the staff member was emptying the rubbish into the skip.

According to him, he opened the black bag to see if there was any glass inside and saw the baby complete with the umbilical cord, placenta and a medical linen saver in the bag.

Second Baby Safe Box launched

Saveways Crescent Centre’s manager, Mr Rudolph van Rooyen did confirm that they are aware of the incident.

“Centre Management confirms that a full term baby was discovered by the cleaning services at Saveways Centre on Saturday, at approximately 09:20. The matter was reported to the relevant authorities and handled accordingly. No further information is available at this moment,” he said.
