Raising awareness for violence against women

A group of ladies recently organised an event to raise awareness against the abuse and killing of women and children.

A group of ladies recently organised an event to raise awareness against the abuse and killing of women and children.

According to the organisers of the event, the purpose of the event was to raise awareness of the violence against women which has taken a rapid increase in the entire country.


Mr Xolani Mathebula of MXB Industrial Holdings and Mr Dumisani Daba of Akaani Investments who supported the campaign to raise awareness against violence directed at women held recently.

Men who support the movement #NotInMyName attended in numbers and the women wore their all black outfits with red lipstick.


The singer Thulani Masango, a member of the band G2G, which provided entertainment during the event.

The women who attended, received gift packs with pepper sprays and whistles, which will help to defend themselves as well as ‘whistle for help’ when under attack.

The sponsors of the event were Xolani Mathebula of MXB Industrial Holdings and Dumisani Daba of Akaani Investments, other sponsors were Daddy Mohlala, Wanele Soko and Prieska Logistics. Performances were provided by live band G2G and several poets.
