Our choir is going to Talent America

The announcement was made at the first Mpumalanga Youth Choir Festival which was held on Saturday May 20 at The Venue @ The Ridge Casino.


Mayor of Middelburg Cllr Michael Masina and Mr Dikhale Motsepe, MMC of the Mpumalanga Department of Culture, Sports and Recreation announced that the Mpumalanga Youth Choir would be going to Talent America in July.

At the opening, Master of ceremonies, Ps Hennie van Rensburg welcomed the various choirs to The Venue and introduced the Executive Mayor of Middelburg, Cllr Michael Masina who welcomed to the stage Mr Dikhale Motsepe, MMC of the Mpumalanga Department of Culture, Sports and Recreation.

Mr Motsepe revealed that the Mpumalanga Youth Choir was going through to Talent America. To top off the good news, he further announced that their trip to America would be sponsored by The Department of Culture, Sports and Recreation.

“Ms Norah-Mahlangu, MEC for Sport, Culture and Recreation, has granted you, our choir, the sponsorship to go to New York. We wish you a safe trip and all the best,” he said.


Curro Bankenveld’s senior primary choir were the first to take to the stage in the Mpumalanga Youth Choir Festival.

The Mpumalanga Youth Choir, established in 1981, singing strong for 35 years, and consisting of 50 choir members from eMalahleni, Middleburg, Belfast, Bethal and Groblersdal, can now brag of their achievement.

Well done to the choir and all the best for Talent America which will take place from July 4 to 13 and be broadcast on Kyknet.
