Registration for the ‘Battle of the Bands’ competition is closing in a months time so hurry and go get your form now. Bands and instrumentalists have until December 30 to enter the contest.
he competition is hosted by Izitethe Development Projects with the grand finale being on March 25, 2017.
This platform is open to people of all age groups and is divided into three categories. The first phase being registration which is currently running. Forms are obtainable at various youth offices, strategic youth centres and at Izithethe Art Institute Campus situated at Nkangala FET College eMalahleni Campus. Contestants will have to pay an entry fee of R50.
Other towns such as Ga Nala and Ogies are amongst the places that will participate in the finals where winners from each town will compete against each other to find the ultimate musician. Organiser Mr Sipho SJ Malinga is a professional drummer, educator and a former resident band member for “It’s Gospel Time” a TV show on SABC 2.
He has also worked with gospel sensation Deborah Fraser. He is currently part of projects that include working with Selaelo Selota, his band Minor Band and being part of the production team of “Roots” a show televised on SABC 1.
