This is the second year the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) has hosted their 48 hour car-sit-in. This beautiful initiative was held at Highveld Mall on June 24 where five individuals being Katinka Visagie (Miss Nkangala), Henri Gouws (Highveld Mall Marketing Manager), Bidi Barret (New Life Church gap student), Portia Mkhabela (New Life Church gap student) and Darryl Seager (CANSA representative) were in one car for two days.

Bidi and Portia said they agreed to take to part as they love a challenge and have been meaning to take part in an initiative of this calibre, where they would be able to raise awareness and funds at the same time. Portia will serve the first 24 hours and Bidi will be next to serve the second 24 hours.

Katinka Visagie (Miss Nkangala), Henri Gouws (Highveld Mall Marketing Manager), Bidi Barret (New Life Church gap student) and Portia Mkhabela (New Life Church gap student) are four of the five permanent individuals who are taking part in the CANSA 48 hour car-sit-in at Highveld Mall from June 24 to 26.

Katinka also echoed the same sentiments as the NLC gap students saying when CANSA asked her to be part of the car-sit-in she could not say no as she had been meaning to do something like this.

“I am extremely excited; this is where my passion lies. Doing charity work, so bring on the challenge,” said an enthusiastic Katinka.

The event happened in conjunction with Highveld Mall and Eastvaal Motors.
