She was born in eMalahleni in 1986 and from a young age her love for music and performing arts began at an early age of 12 years.

Her first theatrical performance was in a production entitled BOPHA (written by Perct Mtwa) at the Witbank Civic Theatre directed by her own mother, Faith Magagula in 1998.

Thandeka used to perform as a singer with Fantastic 4 Jazz group from 1999 until 2008. She is an ardent poet who won the title of best poet at the annual eMalahleni Arts Festival in 2008 and was featured in the 2008 July issue of Consciousness Africa publication as a spoken mind. She completed her three years diploma in Musical Theatre in 2008 and she is currently doing her B.Tech in the same course.

Thandeka Magagula will be launching her CD this weekend at Saturday, May 28 at the Witbank Civic theatre.

When Lion of the East Musical was produced by the legendary Mbongeni Ngema in 2009, commissioned by Mpumalanga Provincial Department of Culture, Sport and Recreation, Thandeka joined committed artists and became part of the Lion of the East cast.

Her sterling performance in the Musical Play provided her with the needed impetus to inspire her to compose and write her own songs. Thandeka alongside Mbongeni Ngema appeared in several TV Programmes namely, shift, Africa in arts and morning live, just to mention a few.

“Currently I am working with the multi talented Butana Ngubeni who helps compose her music and legendary Thapelo Khomo a producer in her debut album entitled Nyathela which is due for release soon,” said Thandeka.

Thapelo Khomo has produced a number of artists such as Jabu Khanyile, Simphiwe Dana, Musa Mashiane amoungst many. He is also the member of the legendary jazz group Stimela.
The Nyathela CD launch will take place on Saturday, May 28 at 19:00 at the Witbank Civic Theatre and it’s a show not to be missed.

Opening the evening will be Muic Power from Pretoria, a Local Comedian Tsietsie Matlakala and Thobile Magagula a musician.

Then Thandeka will take to the stage with her band members. Butana Mgueni (Keyboard), Musa Mdluli (Guiter), Phurah Sibanyoni (Base), Mnqobi Mazibuko (Drums), Brian Masuku (Saxophone), Phumzile Mbonani (Backup Vocals), Gugu Manzini (Backup Vocals) and Thulani Masango (Backup Vocals).

“It’s an event for the whole family, please come through and support. One day I am going to be like Musa,” said Thandeka.
