“We salute you” – Workers get saluted by the Department of Labour

Miss Dolly Chiloane, the Chief Director: Provincial Operation of Mpumalanga was present at the Workers Day celebrations hosted at the Correctional Services on May 13.

On May 13 Mpumalanga played host to Workers Day Celebrations under the theme “promoting the dignity and worth of the Department of Labour employees”, this event took place at the Correctional Services. The program started off with Miss Dolly Chiloane (Chief Director: Provincial Operation of Mpumalanga) welcoming all the stakeholders and the different provinces that were present.

“It is an honour for us to be your hosts this year, welcome to our beautiful province,” said Chiloane.

The Purpose of the day was delivered by Miss Phelele Tengeni who is the Deputy Director-General of Corporate Services. She mentioned that we must reflect on the history of Workers Day, the rights employees fought for which include equality amongst other things.

“We must hold the bull by the horn. Our aim as the department is to restore the dignity of workers at all times,” said Tengeni.

Entertainment came from the Department of Labour’s choir and Tsonga dancers who warmed up the floor before the program further continued.

Keynote speaker of the afternoon was the Director General of the Department of Labour, Mr Thobile Lamati.
