Run for a good course and good health

Suzuki, OK Bazaar, South African Society of Physiotherapists and Eskom Athletic Club present the Way of Life 10km challenge and 4.9km fun run along with the family fun day.

Suzuki, OK Bazaar, South African Society of Physiotherapists and Eskom Athletic Club present the Way of Life 10km challenge and 4.9km fun run along with the family fun day.

These challenges will be taking place on Saturday, August 30.
The 10km challenge will be hosting South Africa’s best 10km athletes all competing for the R28 000 total prize money.
If the South African 10km road race record is broken, the first athlete running under 28 minutes will win a Suzuki Alto on offer by Suzuki Emalahleni/Witbank.

The 10km race will start at 07:30 and the fun run at 07:40.
All proceeds will go towards the SASP Community Service Rehab Special Interest Group (SASP CSR SIG).
Suzuki Emalahleni is more than just a car dealership. They stand firm in their belief in their motto: ‘Way of Life’.

In 2013 they held a family fun day as a charity event for a children’s home in eMalahleni, sponsored four pupils’ Matric Farewell expenses and are actively involved in sponsoring less fortunate Mpumalanga athletes making it possible for them to compete in provincial and national championships.

The owner of Suzuki, Levouy van der Merwe’s wife, Dr Petro van der Merwe, a physiotherapist, has started as part of the South African Society of Physiotherapy (SASP) a special interest group. This group of physiotherapists all over South Africa will provide free physiotherapy group exercise classes to less fortunate populations like the elderly, school children and HIV positive individuals.

They say that if you want to uplift someone you shouldn’t give them bread, but rather seeds to grow wheat to produce bread. This is exactly what the health benefits of these exercises will be for these people.

However Suzuki needs the help from the community.  They will need all the help they can get to make this project successful. Please add a sponsorship of R1000 or more to this cause. Your sponsorship will go directly to the SASP CSR SIG.

Suzuki Auto Emalahleni invites all to join them in the 10km challenge or the 4.9km fun run.
“We all would like to make a difference, one cent at a time, one step at a time,” said Levouy.

Races and the family day will take place at River Crescent Shopping Centre and Suzuki on the corner of Mandela and Linden streets.
Entries are from 17:00 at Suzuki Emalahleni until 19:00 on Friday, August 29 and then from 06:00 on race day.

Entry fees: 4.9km costs R25 and the 10km costs R40. Temporary licenses cost R25, grand masters and disabled persons are free. Cut off time is two hours.

Spot prizes and give away, potjiekos competition starts at 09:00.

There will be a flea market and crafters market, food and beverages from 09:00, jumping castle and face painter, puppet show.
