KFC mini cricket provides opportunities for all involved in the programme to grow, develop and shine. It is involved in encouraging children to live active lifestyles, and KFC is committed to creating platforms which bring kids closer to their cricketing heroes through the cricket program, like The KFC Mini-Cricket Kids vs Proteas Tour and the KFC T20 Internationals.

Banele Mabena participated in the Mini-Cricket Provincial Festival on Saturday, September 16 at Witbank High School. This is to improve the skills of all children who participated in the event and to assist them to grow, develop and shine.

This mini cricket is restricted to pre-primary and primary schools where boys between ages three and 10 and girls between ages three and 13 get to participate in the program.

Games are fast and scaled-down with eight children per team, which can be played on any reasonably flat surface with a soft ball. Differently-abled kids are also included in the program. The rules remain the same as regular KFC Mini-Cricket but with a larger focus on hand-eye coordination, ball catching skills and basics of the game. Size two bats are used with stumps remaining the same.

For pre-primary children, the emphasis is to introduce pre-scholars to KFC Mini-Cricket, with a greater focus on hand-eye coordination.

All players get a chance to bat, bowl, field, and keep wicket during the course of a game.

Last season KFC hosted the third edition of the KFC Mini-Cricket Kids vs Proteas tour where kids from all around the country got the opportunity to win a competition which enabled them to get active against a team of Proteas men and women.
