Blackburn Rovers are the champions of a soccer tournament

Blackburn was rewarded when they scored their first goal after a deflection

It took the best from Blackburn Rovers to beat a very strong Mnisi Academy team.

Five soccer teams played in a junior tournament organised by Zalani Foundation at the Lynnville Stadium on Saturday, November 28.

From the onset, Blackburn pressed very hard knowing very well that they were faced with a very strong and organised team.

Blackburn was rewarded when they scored their first goal after a deflection.

Within a few minutes, they scored their second goal and Mnisi Academy were playing under pressure and committed a lot of mistakes.

Mnisi Academy was awarded a free-kick and the ball just sail out and missing the target.

Mnisi played without supporting each other, and they all wanted to score.

Blackburn had a very strong defence wile Mnisi Academy defence was slow and was caught napping by the fast Blackburn forwards,

Blackburn nearly scored their third goal but the shot was saved by Mnisi Academy goalkeeper.

Mnisi Academy had a long shot after a two-man move but the shot was blocked. Blackburn led 2-0 in the first half.

In the second half, Mnisi Academy tried their best to equalise but their best was not good enough.

Mnisi Academy’s captain who had a good game tried a solo run, but he was blocked in his track.

Another Mnisi Academy shot was saved by Blackburn goalkeeper.

Blackburn held on to their lead as Mnisi had several shots at goal and at one time Blackburn goalkeeper had to come to the rescue to save his team. Both teams played well to reach the finals.

Zalani Foundation would like to thank all the sponsors for lending a hand in making the tournament a success. A message about gender-based violence was read during the games.

In the other matches: Blackburn beat Chelsea 1-0, Arsenal beat Multi Birds 5-4 after a penalty shoot-out, Mnisi Academy beat Bocca Juniors 3-0 and Blackburn beat Arsenal 5-4 after a penalty shoot-out to reach the finals.
