(Video) Sailing in the wind at endurance race

We are looking for families, youth and children from the age of five years old who can start learning how to sail

Bryan Price, the newly elected secretary from Witbank Yacht and Aquatic Club is excited to have taken over this new position and is working very hard at it.

Bryan took a moment to explain a bit about the sailing calendar that is put out every two years and it is a part of the South African Sailing calendar so that everyone involved in sailing knows when and where there is a sailing competition or an event.

The race that took place at Witbank Yacht and Aquatic Club on Saturday, November 14 and Sunday, November 15 was sponsored by Rimex from Middelburg.

This race was an endurance race with four to six races; each race is about an hour race.

Two of the yachts out on the water on Sunday, November 15 taking part in the Rimex Endurance Race.

The handicap system would be used to add up the times and the number of laps done.

“And the weather is always a factor, we always need wind,” said Bryan.

On Saturday, two races took place which consisted of races of approximately half an hour to 45 minutes.

On Sunday the next two races had to take place for this event to be regarded as a regatta.

The races were counted towards the club series.

Bryan was selected as the new secretary at this year’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) and he will be in this position for the next two years.

“I am excited about this new position and it’s new younger blood taking over which is very exciting,” said Bryan.

At the moment there are three new younger members on the committee.

For Bryan, it’s a big challenge, but he is ready to take it on.

He will be responsible for arranging sailing events and the marketing of these events amongst many other tasks.

“We are looking for families, youth and children from the age of five years old who can start learning how to sail,” said Bryan.

“So I would like families with young children to join Witbank Yacht and Aquatic Club as we are in need of new younger sailors to join the club,” said Bryan.
