The South African road champs was well represented by all the provinces

Six cyclists from eMalahleni qualified and took part in the South African Road Champs, bringing back five medals for their great achievement.

The cycling took place from Wednesday, February 5 until Sunday, February 9 at Swadini Forever Resort.

The cyclists from eMalahleni are: Patrice Gautier, Annelie Cronje, Dan Cronje, Wihl Vermaak, Andre Potgieter and Gert Nagel.

Over the five days, the cyclists had fun supporting one another when they were not cycling.

Patrice took part in the 20km time trial and in the 109km road race where he finished in third place in both events.

The South African road champs was well represented by all the provinces.

During the time trial on the first day it was extremely hot and the first 5km was down hill and the last 5km was a hard up hill.

On the second day during the time trial it was windy and that tested the cyclists.

The road race was a circular route and it was great for spectators and there was a great feeding zone for the cyclists.

During the road race there was lots of rain and cyclists had to take more caution.

“It was a well organised event and well covered. We as the cyclists from eMalahleni would like to thank HH Tours for the great event which was well organised,” said Patrice.
