[GALLERY] HMC fun day a sand ‘blast’

So after a tough year of rally and pushing their cars to the limits, the Highveld Motor Club (HMC) hosted yet another successful fun rally day to end off a great year of racing.

The HMC rally fun day was held on Saturday, November 16 on a farm just outside Bronkhorstspruit.

A carefully planned route was marked out by the organisers on the farm that they got to use for the day.

Spectators and service stations were set up in between the potato plantation which was very different.

The whole purpose of the day was for rally drivers, motorbike owners and quad bike owners to come out and have good clean fun together.

After the official three laps were ridden to get the best time, then spectators could jump into the passenger seat with a rally driver and experience what it is like in a rally car.

A well-known driver, AC Potgieter got behind the steering wheel just to have some fun, even through the race organiser said it was a fun day, AC could not stop himself and he really had a lot of fun in the sand, still pushing his car to the limit.

AC won the following categories at the 2019 Wildcat Energy National Rally. He came first in Northern overall, first in Regional overall, first in overall National and first in R2N.

At the fun day AC was the fastest driver of the day and was also first in his class.

The rest of the drivers in their vehicles really had fun playing in the sand as they threw up the sand for the spectators that gathered there.

The motorbikes and quad bikes just had as much fun in the sand as the rest of the vehicles.

The HMC committee would like to thank the farmer for the use of his land, the time keepers for helping out at the start and finish keeping the times of each lap.
