Citylads beat neighbours BTM Sports

BTM keeper misjudged a shot and fisted the ball back into play which resulted in a give away goal

Friendship was thrown out of the windows when local teams Witbank Citylads played BTM Sports in a local derby, while Kaizer Chiefs beat Orlando Pirates in the Soweto derby, Citylads and Chiefs proved their superiority over their opponents.

The two ABC Mostepe League teams lock horns at the Lynnville Stadium on Saturday, November 9 and Citylads beat BTM Sports 2-1.

It was a game of two halves while Citylads dominated the first half, BTM came strongly in the second half. BTM were the first to strike at Citylads goals and the shot was blocked and in response City were awarded a place-kick which was saved for a corner-kick.

Citylads used their wings effectively and had the support of the strong wind behind their backs.

In one of their attacks Citylads forced BTM to conceive a corner-kick and BTM goalkeeper saved the shot and injured himself in the process.

BTM nearly scored an equaliser but the shot was saved for a corner-kick.

Play swing from one end to the other with both teams trying to find the back of the net. Citylads led 2-0 at half time.

In the second half BTM came back strongly but were denied scoring opportunities by Citylads defence.

In one of their attacks a shot was saved for a place-kick which they failed to use.

Both teams made some substitutes with BTM scoring from a cross to make it 2-1.

While BTM played well in the second half, they tried to force the match into a draw.

They tried their best but their best came too late.

Citylads are fifth on the log with 14 points after playing eight games while BTM occupies the last spot (position 16) with two points after playing nine games, drawing only two games.

*Another local team, Bakone FC playing in the same league occupies position seventh with 13 points after playing eight games.
