Powerboats speeds into spring

The powerboat race that was held on the Sunday took the junior, leisure and inflatable boats to the water

The Boat and Caravan Club hosted their annual Spring Festival which included the opening cruise and first powerboat race for the season.

On the weekend of September 28 and 29 this festival kicked off with the opening cruise which entails boats of all shapes and sizes, participating in a leisurely cruise around the dam, officially opening Witbank Dam for summer.

This is an annual event that usually happens the first week in September, where all are welcome.

The powerboat race that was held on the Sunday took the junior, leisure and inflatable boats to the water.

The leisure boats made for some action between two local pilots, John-Ross Duncan with co-pilot Lea Sampson and Steven Barham with co-pilot Megan Ponmoon.

The junior results for the day were as follows:

Junior A: In first place Jordan Barham, second place Caroline Duncan and in third place Hartman Fourie.
Junior B: In first place James Sampson, second place Henricus Smook and in third place Nico Potgieter.
GT15: In first place Jordan Allan, second place Tristan Brungee and in third place Jason Barham.
F30: In first place Donnovan Du Plessis, second Heinrich Pieterse and taking third place Tristan Barham.
