National championships ended off on a on high note

Nkangala Athletic Academy athletes Moses Mahlangu and Katlego Moloi displayed yet another outstanding performance for Mpumalanga provincial team.

The pair competed during the South African 10km championships held in Middelburg, at the Kees Taljaard Stadium on Saturday, September 28.

Moses Mahlangu improved from 10th position last year and finished in 9th position, clocking in a fast time supported by Katlego Moloi who ran a seasonal best time that led Mpumalanga in third senior man position claiming a bronze medal; another history for Mpumalanga in the 10km SA championships.

“We are happy to close off the national championships on a high note; it’s been a good year of positive results and record breaking for Nkangala Athletic Academy. 40 athletes had opportunity to get provincial colours and for the first time having ten athletes in school national cross-country champs. We opened the track season with Nkosinathi Skosana in position four in the South African Schools track in PE, Neni and Nani Ndlovu brought team silver medals in South African Cross Country Championships. Again during the South African School Cross Country champs they came back with team silver medals whereby Neni came second overall claiming individual silver, Nkosinathi Skosana claimed a bronze team medal and we closed off with Moses and Katlego 10km achievement. We contributed total of eight medals to Mpumalanga from national champs. Our current focus is back to school to make sure our athletes perform academically as well during this off season. We thank God for such talent and achievements,” pointed Emmanuel Mabaso chairperson of the club.
