Citylads loses a three penalty thriller

Citylads controlled the first half and they had a corner and were suppose to nail it but a player failed to find the back of the net

Witbank Citylads FC lost a match they controlled and were suppose to win easily but in the end they lost the match to Toronto FC.

The ABC Motsepe League encounter was played at the Lynnville Stadium on Saturday, September 21.

Before the match Bakone FC had beaten VOC 2-0 in the same stadium they are sharing.

Citylads controlled the first half and they had a corner and were suppose to nail it but a player failed to find the back of the net.

Citylads were awarded a penalty after a player was brought down and they score to take the lead.

Another Citylads breakthrough nearly resulted in a goal but the chance was wasted.

Citylads had a corner-kick which the Toronto keeper saved. Toronto were also awarded a corner-kick but the shot went over the bar.

Both teams had their chances but Citylads dominated the proceedings but allowed Toronto to come back to the game.

Toronto scored to set the teams on equal terms. The teams break for half time at 1-1.

In the second half the referee tried to control the game as players played their hearts out and tempers rise.

Citylads pressed hard and a shot was saved by the alert Toronto keeper.

Citylads were awarded a second penalty after a player handle inside the penalty box.

A Toronto player was given his matching orders for arguing with the referee and the Toronto keeper saved the penalty.

After that Toronto gained confidence as the game progress.

They scored their second goal after a Citylads defender in an attempt to clear the ball scored an own goal to make it 2-1.

Citylads equalised to make it 2-2 in the thriller match.

Toronto were awarded penalty as well and scored to make it 3-2 and Citylads Randy Ngobe miss a chance to score in the dying minutes of the match.

Toronto were all over the field matching Citylads pound for pound.

In the end Toronto took the three points back home.
