Rochelle has the muscle power

Rochelle will be competing in the Arnold Classic Africa Competition

The South African Strong Women Competition took place over the long weekend in Johannesburg and a woman from eMalahleni competed in the competition bringing back the third place in her category.

On Friday, April 14 many women gathered at the Rand Show in Johannesburg for the competition.

Rochelle Reyneke from eMalahleni took part in the under 75kg category.

The day started off with pulling a four ton truck against time, over a distance of 20 metres and Rochelle managed to pull it in 28 seconds.

Up next was the Yolk, weighing 180kg, and Rochelle had to walk with it for 20 metres which she completed in 29 seconds.

Giving a few minutes break from carrying and pulling, a Medley was up next consisting of a tyre flip of 250kg, centre walk weighing 80kg and steel weights of 110kg.

Rochelle managed to complete all three, over a distance of 20 metres, in a time of 35 seconds.

Then to carry on testing the competitors arm strength they had an over head medley press stage to go through.

Rochelle Reyneke received third place in the under 75kg South African Strong Women Competition.
First was a Keg weighing 35kg, then a dumbell of 25kg, axle press of 55kg and a log press of 50kg. Rochelle managed to complete all this in 25 seconds.

Getting a few minutes rest, Rochelle managed to get some fluids and food into her body, ready for the last event of the day.

The last event consisted of throwing a cement ball weighing 70kg over a 1.4m pole in 60 seconds.

“I managed to throw the cement ball over nine times in the 60 seconds,” said Rochelle.

After a long day of pushing her muscles to the limit, the judges finally read out the results for the day.

Rochelle was rewarded with third place in the under 75kg category.

“I am very proud of my achievement and look forward to the next competition that lies ahead,” said Rochelle.

Rochelle will be competing from May 5 to May 7 in the Arnold Classic Africa Competition.
