Spurs prepare for Mbombela derby

Spurs will clash with Mpumalanga side Mbombela United this weekend.

Witbank Spurs lost 0-2 to Highlands Park for the first time at Makhulong Stadium in Tembisa on Saturday.
This loss has dropped Spurs from second place in the logs to third place behind Highlands Park and Baroka FC.

“It was not a good game for us we really went to this game limping after we had four of our regular players not feeling well, but the boys insisted they want to die for this badge, we would like to apologise to our fans who took their time to accompany the team to Makhulong. This was not a good day for us and congratulations to Highlands Park,” said Freddy Mapulane, Spurs liaison.

This weekend is a big one, the Mpumalanga Derby as Spurs take on Mbombela United at Puma Stadium.

“We are looking forward to collect all maximum points as we are desperately in need of points, we can’t afford to drop more if we are still to compete for number one spot,” said Freddy.

The boys are ready, they have been working tirelessly the whole week preparing for this one, all those who got knocked over the weekend are fully fit. The likes of Percy Tau, Cleopas Dube, Mogau Tshehla, and Zama Dlamini are ready to do the city proud.

“Our supporters can come out in numbers to see their Siyavutha boys restoring their pride against the Nelspruit side and will be ready come Saturday,” said Freddy.

The gate will be open at 12:30, with kickoff at 15:00. Entry is R20 per adult and R10 per car, students enter for free (produce your student card).

“We would like to advise our fans that all the refreshments will be sold outside the stadium, the bar will be also open, so please no drinks or liquor will be allowed inside the stadium,” ended Freddy.
