Decota Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Combat Club sent 11 of their fighters to battle it out at the Gauteng Fighting Championships and returned victors.
The Gauteng fighting Championships were held on March 12 at Highway Gardens Community Hall in Primrose Germiston.
In the main event Decota’s Serge Kasanda went head to head with Richard Fraser from Junk Yard.

“It was a powerful first round for both fighters with powerful leg kicks, hard body shots and great ground game,” said Fanie ‘The Viper’ Prinsloo, Decota head coach.

Round two was no different and Serge went in swinging whilst landing a hit here and there, Fraser stuck to kicks also managing body kicks in between Serge’s onslaught. Serge took the fight a step further when he landed a huge take down sending Fraser to the mat, hard.

Fraser was able to work his way out from the mat and ended up being pinned to the cage by Serge, the referee had to step in to separate the two for inactivity.

Fraser was done with his fight, spitting blood to the mat as he tapped out signalling his submission in the fight giving Serge the main event win in the second round via TKO.
In the grappling and light contact MMA Decota’s warriors fared quite well against the competition.

“The Competition was good our boys went up ‎against SA Champion Grapplers with Aldo Boysen submitting one of them in under a minute via a rear naked choke and beating his light contact MMA netting him two gold trophies,” said Fanie.

The team of Decota MMA fighters that took part in the Gauteng Fight Championships, Johannes ‘Warrior’ Rudolph, Fanie ‘The Viper’ Prinsloo, Serge Kasanda, Juandre Fivaz (assistant coach) and in front Bradley le Grange.
Johannes ‘Warrior’ Rudolph went on to grapple some large fights and lost one fight, but went on to win the open mat group finishing his opponents off with some high level flying arm bar submissions.
Marcel Posthumus won two fights and lost two fights, he managed to submit much larger and more experienced opponents and at the age of only 15 he has a bright future ahead of him in the sport.

In the cage fight section ‘The Dominator’ returned from a three year lay off to fight under the Decota banner once again, however he lost his match via a rear naked choke, Paul Joubert also lost via a rear naked choke in his match.

“Christiaan Mare may have lost at KFN01‎ but was a complete different fighter on Saturday,” said Fanie.

He had a stand up war with Pasky Tshiamala from RAW Club. These boys did not want this fight to go to the ground but when it did Christiaan managed to catch Pasky in an arm-bar but Pasky managed to narrowly escape. Christiaan went into the second round stunning Pasky time after time forcing Pasky into a verbal submission.

Gordon Brown shone in his fight with Themba Lusinga from Mile High Club. The fight went in‎to clinging time after time with Gordon working knees to body, followed by body shots and head shots then knees to legs. This continued for two full rounds when it went into the third round the judges awarded the fight to Themba.
Keep May 7 open as Fight Star 18 is set to take place in Germiston Primrose and Decota’s fighters will be fighting for glory.

“We would just like to thank all the sponsors involved and our Lord for keeping us all safe,” said Fanie.
