Spurs win the cup

Witbank Spurs have won the Gert Sibande District Municipality Cup.
The tournament was held on December 4 at Mandla Magudulela Stadium.

Spurs won the first semi finals by beating Gert Sibande XI with two goals to nil thanks to the efforts of Mduduzi Sibeko and Tumelo ‘Messy’ Tsonyane. Later in the day Spurs went to face off against Mbombela United in the finals to trump them with one goal to nil thanks to Joshua Souls success on goal.

“It was a well organised event, we are happy to have being invited to this competition as it is important to keep our players active during the break so that they don’t lose focus, we can only hope and trust that we take that winning mentality to our next match against Santos so that we can advanced to the last 32 of Nedbank Cup,” said Freddy Mapulane, Spurs PRO.

He went on to thank the MMC Mr Vusi Motha for the invite to the competition and expressed the team’s excitement for next year’s competition.

“Congratulations to Mr Themba Mafu, Witbank Spurs coach and his team,” he said.

Spurs next National First Division qualifying match is on December 15 against Santos at Puma Stadium, come show your support for the local guys.
