Curro to host mountain bike challenge

Adele Tait from Curro Bankenveld has been working hard on the track, getting it ready for the Spur School Mountain Bike Race in a weeks’ time. Two other employees from Curro have also been busy on the track day in and day out.
The race will be held at Curro Bankenveld on Saturday, June 20.
There are a couple of single tracks on the side of the reserve towards the stables where the horse riding is done, a single track has been laid out.

The mountain bike track at Curro Bankenveld:

The mountain bike challenge will be split into age categories of 6 to 7, 8 to 10, 11 to 12, 13 to 14, 15 to 16 and 17 to 18.
The 6 to 10-year-olds will do short course lap racing and the older riders will do proper cross country laps of about 5km.
Patrice Gautier and Adele Tait are the course designers, promising to bring the riders an exciting route.

Jeandre Gautier, Patrice’s son, will be competing in this event. He has already competed in a couple of the Spur School Mountain Bike League races and has received a fifth, 12th and third place so far.
There will be an entry fee of R60 per rider with entries opening on Friday, June 19 from 18:30 to 20:00 and Saturday, June 20 from 07:00 to 09:30 both at Curro Bankenveld School, pre-entries can be mailed to philna.g@curro.co.za.

There will be goody bags for the first 200 entrants and medals for all finishers, the race is open to all learners from all schools, just be sure to bring your own bike, and helmets must be worn.
Points scored at the high schools portion of this event count towards the National Finals at Bekker High School in Magaliesburg from October 3 to 4.
