Athletes selected for inter-provincial championships

Members of Nkangala Athletic Academy have been selected to represent Mpumalanga in the cross country inter-provincial championships.

Altogether 21 athletes from the academy were selected during the championships held at Merensky High School, Tzaneen, Limpopo on Saturday, June 6.
Coach Emmanuel Shaper Mabaso managed to come home with a silver medal in the 8km men’s 30 to 35 year event.
According to Mabaso it was a great test for the upcoming South African Cross Country Championship that will be held in Middelburg on September 12.

“We could have done better but fatigue took its toll. It was bit difficult to race without sleeping, we travelled from 01:00, racing at 10:00 so our athletes were sleepy and tired,” added Mabaso.

Skosana Moses, Mahlangu Ben, Morudu Given, Madalane Doctor, Simelane Khayelihle, Nduze Nomonde, Leshalabe Mpho, Mabaso Emmanuel, Nkandimeng Lekoko, Nkosi Bongani, Molotiwa Sifiso, Sibanyoni Thandeka, Maila Snowi, Mabuza Simanga, Sibeko John, Mncwango Sicelo, Sigudu Lucky, Mdlalose Samukelisiwe, Skosana Sakhile, Mogola Nkosinathi and Mthombeni Banele.
