Spurs beat Cosmos in a tense game

Witbank Spurs had to defend with all that they have when Jomo Cosmos tried to equalise during a tense National First Division (NFD) game.

The action-packed game was played at the Puma Rugby Stadium on Wednesday, April 8.
A moment of silence was observed for the late Richard ‘Kimberly Express’ Henyekane, the former Bafana-Bafana player, Golden Arrows, Mamelodi Sundowns and Free State Stars striker who died during an accident on Tuesday morning.

The teams then tore into each other and Spurs Mduduzi Mathabela was brought down inside the penalty area.
Spurs’ centre forward Ranga Chivaviro scored from the spot in the first minute of the match.
From there onwards Spurs were all over Cosmos, who tried their best to level matters. Cosmos had a breakthrough but their shot hit the post.
Cosmos started to play as a team and they were knitting passes but could not break through Spurs’ defence.

Cosmos were awarded a penalty and Spurs’ keeper Briace Msiza came to the party and saved that penalty.
Spurs were coming from all fronts and scored their second goal, while their winger Randy Ngobe hit the post with a powerful shot.
Cosmos were losing the ball easily while Spurs kept possession, connected well and they led 3-0 at half time.
In the second half Spurs defended well their lead while Cosmos threw bodies forward.

Cosmos were coming from all directions forcing Spurs to defend, they were rewarded when they scored their first goal from a place-kick. Both team made some substitutions and it paid well for Cosmos as they started attacking.
Spurs were under pressure as Cosmos scored their second goal.

Cosmos were all over Spurs and they defended well until end in the tense encounter.
