Aces youth players excel

Altogether 18 players from the youth divisions of Mpumalnaga Black Aces have been selected for the Eastern District teams which will play in a Gauteng Districts Tournament in October.

The players have been selected from the Corinthians Black Aces structures and it’s a big accolade to the entire franchise that so many players are now being recognized. All of the players have benefited from the Manchester City School of Football Clinic which was held recently.

Last year 14 players received ‘call-ups’ and the club’s football manager Hans van Aalst gave credit to both the parents and the coaches for the outstanding achievement.
‘Easterns’ is traditionally a strong LFA and will test their strength in a Gauteng districts tournament scheduled at a venue to be announced. Immediately after the Gauteng tournament the boys will go on tour to Durban where they will play a KZN Districts tournament.

Players from Corinthians Black Aces are the feeder to the Black Aces academy, who were not selected for Ekurhuleni Easterns Districts as they play in the SAFA Gauteng Academy Leagues.

Both Aces chairmen, Mario Morfou and George Morfou, were delighted with the news and felt that their investment in the development structures was now paying off.
“Both George and I would like to send our congratulations to all those who were selected and especially to the coaches who gave up so much of their time to mentor the youth,” said Mario Morfou who has just returned from watching the World Cup in Brazil.
