Marcio is off to Zims to fish

Marcio Silva, an 18-year-old bass angler from Curro Bankenveld, was selected to represent South Africa against Zimbabwe.

The 2014 Junior Bass Nationals hosted by the Southern Division on the Vaal River was not just an annual bass angling tournament, it was a bass angler’s most difficult challenge.

Marcio Silva is one of the junior bass anglers that came up on the challenge and proved that he is a top quality angler. He managed to remain calm, read the conditions and put them to his advantage. Marcio also received his Protea Colours for Bass angling the third time.

This youngster started his competitive bass angling career eight years ago. His previous caps include receiving his colours at Albert Falls Dam in Kwa-zulu Natal at age 15, Clan William Dam in the Western Cape at age 17, and is now deemed one of South Africa’s top junior anglers.

In addition to his third cap, at the 2014 Junior Nationals, he won the top award for the best casting and pitching angler. Marcio will represent South Africa, along with his fellow Protea anglers against Zimbabawe later this year on Zimbabwean waters.
Well done Marcio.
