Darts championships hit the bulls-eye

The National Darts Championships that were hosted in eMalahleni drew to a close after a week of competition.

The Western Cape team took home the title of champions after the final was held on February 7, at Paxton Correction Service hall.
At the opening ceremony Mr. Mandla Sibanyoni, area commissioner of eMalahleni warmly welcomed and congratulated the teams for participating

Correctional Service workers from all over the country gathered in eMalahleni for the week of competition as 110 players from six regional teams played for the title.

During the first three days the competition opened with five team games of men and women playing separately. Other competitive matches during that week included closed doubles and singles in blocks of men and women, as well as the doubles and singles of the last sixteen players that took place on Thursday February 6.

In the singles finals the Western Cape beat Gauteng with four points to one and three to two respectively. With the men’s doubles finals, the Limpopo Mpumalanga Northwest (LMN) team lost with four points to two against Free State and Northern Cape.

The last game of the singles finals ended with Western Cape region beating Eastern Cape. Western Cape team had the most overall points with 269 points and Gauteng with 142 points. The LMN team place 5th overall.
