National Darts champs pinned at Paxton

The Department of Correctional Services is playing their national darts championships at Paxton Prison.

The week-long event has attracted 110 players from all the provinces in the country, to compete for the title of champion.
All the players are from the department of correctional services and will be playing in a round robin format.

This means that every player is set to play every other player in the competition, in a straight 501 game and the culmination of the week of competition ends on Friday, with the finals and prize giving.

The opening ceremony took place on Sunday February 2, however a power outage delayed the proceedings. The event started early on Monday morning, in full swing, as players started with games at 08:00. After the first day of competition the Western Cape team had zero loses with all the other teams experiencing at least one loss. Mpumalanga is represented by a combined team for Limpopo, Mpumalanga, and North West (LMN) with their blue and white shirts.

A highlight for day one was when LMN ended the day tied with the Free State team. They played a tie-breaker which LMN lost.
The week promises to provide good competition at the national darts championship which is held in Mpumalanga for the first time ever and good fellowship and friendships are made and respect is earned, among the men and woman who work at the department of correctional services.
