Bridge and Back race churned up Witbank Dam’s waters

The annual Bridge and Back regatta (race) showed a fine display of skipper’s and crew’s ability to handle their vessels.

The regatta was held over the weekend of January 18 and 19 and saw 33 boats set off for the bridge to Duvha Power Station, in light rain on Sunday morning.

The regatta started in light wind conditions and unfortunately the course needed to be shortened, as they were unable to reach the bridge by the allotted cut-off time.

After lunch at the half way, mark the second leg back to the club was started, in much more favourable wind and instead of the four hours for the first leg, the second, was finished in one hour – amazing what a difference wind makes.

The Witbank Yacht & Aquatic Club (WYAC) would like to thank our sponsors, Jaguar Land Rover N4 Witbank, without whose assistance the event would not have been the success it was.

Congratulations to Colin and Craig Hay from Witbank Yacht & Aquatic club for being the overall winners as well.
