The Witbank Spurs lost their first match of the year.

On January 4, the team visited Thanda Royal Zulu at Richards Bay to kick-start the second round of fixtures and lost their match 3-2.

“We went to the break, trailing by three goals and the boys gave it their all in the second stanza hence they manage to score two goals via Xoli Themba and Ralph Matema, but that was not enough on the day,” said George Khumalo, Spurs PRO.

The Spurs have been going through a rough patch lately and the fact that they played five of their last six games, away from home, did not help their cause. “We have ten home games this round and we plan to collect maximum points in all of them,” added Khumalo.
Spurs are eager and keen and aim to start with their operation of ‘take all at home’ in their match against Sivutsa Stars on Sunday at Puma Stadium at 15:30. “We have never lost a game against them at home and we intend to keep that record intact,” added Khumalo.

Spurs ensure their supporters that they fully understand the fans’ concerns and that Spurs are working alongside the technical team to fulfil their promises to their supporters. “We are only asking for your patience, support and assistance in turning Puma Stadium into a slaughterhouse and a home for the 12th man. Come in numbers on Sunday and we will reward you with a good brand of football coupled with a win,” ended Khumalo.
