Lekgwathi hoping for lucky start to the season

Out-of-contract Orlando Pirates skipper Lucky Lekgwathi is hoping to see the Buccaneers get their season off to a great start after he joined them at their camp in Nelspruit.

The centre-back is yet to come to an agreement with the Soweto outfit over a new deal, but will remain with his teammates in the 12-day camp as they prepare for the 2014/15 Absa Premiership campaign.

“It feels like we never went for holidays – everyone is back and fighting hard; like yesterday, we did a short session but quite intensive and that was good,” Lekgwathi told his club’s website, after Pirates returned to training on Monday.

“I am glad we all want to start the season well and of course, that begins with a proper pre-season training. The return of the loaned players and the new players will of course help us have great competition here in the team.”

William Twala, midfielder Manti Moholo from Lamontville Golden Arrows, and defenders Vusi Mthimkulu from Polokwane City and Nthokozise Dube from Sivutsa Stars have all returned to the club after their respective loan spells.
