Wits sign Nergadze, close in on Sheppard

Bidvest Wits have secured the services of former Moroka Swallows defender, Giorgi Nergadze, and could be on the verge of signing Dillon Sheppard.

The Georgian, who left the Dube Birds at the end of the 2013/14 Absa Premiership campaign, was expected to be back in his country playing with Dinamo Tibilisi.

The deep-lying midfielder confirmed back in May that he was heading back to Georgia to play for Dinamo Tibilisi, but it has since been confirmed that he has made a return back to South Africa.

Bidvest Wits and Bloemfontein Celtic were two teams keen on securing his services, and it is the Clever Boys who came out on top in reaching a deal with Nergadze.

The player was already spotted participating in the club’s first training session ahead of the new season, and there could be another midfielder set to join the ranks.

Former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Sheppard is currently a free agent and is said to be close to penning in a deal with the Braamfontein outfit.

Sheppard spent the end of last season keeping fit at Sturrock Park after Maritzburg United unexpectedly released him. He is a free agent.
