Aces assessing Mbesuma

Mpumalanga Black Aces have confirmed they are assessing Orlando Pirates striker Collins Mbesuma with a view to signing the player ahead of the 2014/15 season.

The Zambian international has fallen out of favour at the Soweto giants and coach Vladimir Vermezovic has deemed him surplus to requirements.

Black Aces are now looking to see whether the forward can add value to their squad for next season.

“Collins Mbesuma will join Aces on Monday for a final assessment by [coach] Clive Barker (who also returns on Monday following knee surgery),” the club tweeted on Wednesday.

Should he join AmaZayoni it will be a sixth PSL club for the much-travelled striker, whose peak came in the 2004/05 season when he netted 35 goals in all competitions for Kaizer Chiefs.

That led to an unsuccessful spell overseas where injuries took their toll and he returned to the PSL and Mamelodi Sundowns in 2008. He has since also gone on to play for Moroka Swallows and Lamontville Golden Arrows, before joining Pirates in 2012.
