Make your own cookies for Santa

Kids around the world have been leaving milk and cookies out on Christmas Eve for centuries!

Kids around the world have been leaving milk and cookies out on Christmas Eve for centuries.

The cookies are the fuel that keeps Santa going during his long day. He burns a lot of calories and the researchers here at the North Pole have determined that cookies are the fastest way to replace those calories.

“I do not like cookies and treats, I Love Them! Ho! Ho! Ho!” said Santa.

So what kind of cookies does Santa like best? Here’s a little secret.

“What I like best is when you leave me something that you like to eat. That way, it is like we are sharing a special snack. Just you and me,” he said.

So you see it does not matter what you leave Santa, it’s the thought that counts.
To make it even more memorable why not try baking your own cookies with mom or dad?

Try out this sugar cookie recipe, you will need:

2¾ cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon baking powder
1 cup butter, softened
1½ cups white sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

-Preheat the oven to 190°C.
-In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder and set it aside.
-In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in
the dry ingredients. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and place onto ungreased cookie sheets.
-Bake for about 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden. Once done let the cookies stand on the
cookie sheet two minutes before removing to cool on wire racks.
-Put these cookies out for Santa and I am sure he will be grateful, jolly and plump.

Happy holidays.
