Councillors can ‘sponsor’ a pothole

I refer to the city of eMahlahleni’s budget 2013/ 2014 as published in WITBANK NEWS.

Under financial performance, remuneration of councillors.
There is an amount shown of R18,988000 for the financial year. I believe there are 68 councillors in the council and they are getting a total of ±R1,582333 per month. May I suggest that as a gesture of Ubuntu they all give one month’s remuneration towards repairing potholes?
Information I have is that a pothole 1metre x 1metre is repaired for R500.

Therefore should the council also give an equal amount as the councillors, there would be an amount of R 3,164666 for pothole repairs for one month.
What a pleasure it would be to see that money spent on road repairs.
Think about it, at R500 per hole, the council can repair 6 329 holes and as Mr Theo van Vuuren had the holes numbered he would be able to tell us how many holes will still have to be repaired. I know that some of the holes are larger than I described but the reader can see what an impact it could have on our streets if this idea comes to fruition.

Go on all councillors, do your bit for the city. After all we as ratepayers are paying you and you will be showing your appreciation.
