A thief could not speed away from the consequences of his actions

The vehicle was allegedly signalled travelling on the Stoffberg Road near Loskop Dam heading towards Groblersdal direction.

Mpumalanga police, in collaboration with the Car Tracker Company and Middelburg Flying Squad, arrested a man (34) for possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle.

According to reports, police members received information from the tracking company that a white Toyota Hilux was reportedly stolen from a yard in eMalahleni on March 10.

The vehicle was allegedly signalled travelling on the Stoffberg Road near Loskop Dam heading towards Groblersdal.

The details were followed and the Hilux was found with the suspect behind the steering wheel.

Upon investigation, the vehicle was confirmed to be the one the police were looking for after the theft was reported.

The suspect was arrested by members of the Middleburg Flying Squad.

He is expected to appear in the Middelburg Magistrate’s Court tomorrow (March 13).

In another unrelated incident, information came through from the intelligence structure of the police in Middelburg which led to the recovery of a 9mm pistol with a magazine and eight live rounds.

The firearm recovered on March 12.

It is believed that in the early hours of today (March 12), police received information of a suspect in possession of a pistol without a licence.

Police commenced an operation and arrived at a house in Middelburg, where the suspect fled.

Police, however, recovered the firearm and are in pursuit of the suspect.
