Die Heuwel riddled with potholes

Since November last year, nothing has been done to repair this dangerous pothole.

Dodging and diving potholes are something you quickly learn to avoid, especially the damages caused by driving through one.

In Highveld Park, there is no shortage of potholes.

Duvenhage, Bridgeman Crescent, and Cycad Streets are riddled with dangerous potholes.

Ward 20 Democratic Alliance (DA) Councilor, Maureen Scheepers visited these sites recently, even though it has already been on her agenda since she took her position as ward councilor in November 2021.

“I have reported the potholes many times before and was always advised that it will be placed on a waiting list. The problem with the waiting list is that after heavy rains or when damage is done to a main road, the residential potholes are moved down the waiting list as main roads are the priority,” said Scheepers.

One dangerous pothole in question is the massive hole in Duvenhage Street.

“This pothole has been the longest complaint on the waiting list. Since November last year, nothing has been done to repair this dangerous pothole. Oncoming traffic will not be able to see the pothole clearly as it is right behind a little uphill stretch on the road,” said Scheepers.
