DA celebrates diversity at Heritage Day event

The crowd was entertained by the Qhawe Foundation to a revue of aspects depicting our South African heritage.

Members and supporters of the Democratic Alliance commemorated Heritage Day at the Indlela Country Lodge

At the event on Saturday, September 24 the crowd was entertained by the Qhawe Foundation to a revue of aspects depicting our South African heritage which involved the members in song and dance.

In his opening address at the event DA Constituency Chairperson Clive Hatch stressed that the purpose of the event is to commemorate those things that bring us, as South Africans and democrats, together; it is the occasion to celebrate our diversity as individuals and communities and create a stronger nation.

Hatch said people may ask, “What are we celebrating because we are such a divided and fractured nation?”

He continued, “Diversity is the combination of our differences which shape our views, perspective and approach. The average South African recognises, respects and values our differences of religion, age, race, gender, or any other difference.”

He warned that those who divide us do so for their own nefarious reasons to retain power and influence for a select group of individuals and not in the best interest of a greater or better South Africa.

He concluded by urging everyone to unite despite our diversities to create a strong and vibrant country united in its diversity because we are stronger together.
