DA eMalahleni Women’s day breakfast celebrations

The day’s theme was focused on gender-based violence, and those attended received gifts.

In Women’s month, the Democratic Alliance eMalahleni constituency hosted a Women’s day breakfast to commemorate this very important day on the South African calendar.

Chareen Brouwer from Witbank Victim Support addressed the guests, explaining the struggles of supporting gender-based violence victims in eMalahleni.

Whereafter all guests were entertained by Mary Nkosi and her team from Qhawe Foundation with a drama set and live music.

The event was filled with information regarding gender-based violence and gifts to all who attended.

Sonto Ayesha Nyembezi, Mrs Africa Classic Finalist 2023 attended the event and delivered an encouraging speech and elaborated on her work in eMalahleni and role as a finalist in this pageant.

The theme of the day was mainly focused on gender-based violence, but the power and influence of women in our community was also highlighted.

“There should always be time to celebrate the strength and hard work of all the women in our lives, we need to remind and encourage the women of today on how important their roles are in the community, Women’s day is the perfect day to do this,” said Clr Maureen Scheepers who co-hosted the event with Mr Clive Hatch, the eMalahleni Constituency Chair for the Democratic Alliance.
