Beautiful Logan from eMalahleni wins international crown

'It is not about beauty, but rather beauty with a purpose.'

Local beauty queen Logan Pretorius (22) recently went to Dubai and stole the show where she was crowned Miss Universe Diversity 2022.

Logan was born and raised in eMalahleni where she spent most of her school career in Cambridge Academy and completed her schooling at Witbank Technical High School.

“I started doing competitions when my grandparents used to enter me into the Witbank News’ baby and toddler photo competitions which is where my love for the camera started.”

She officially got into modelling when she was in grade 8.

“A few of my friends dared me to enter the Miss & Mrs Greater Witbank Competition, and I won. Ever since then, so many doors opened, and today I hold local, regional, national and international titles.”

She currently works in Richards Bay for a mining and construction company.

“I do visit very frequently as my brother and father still live there. My heart will always lie in eMalahleni and I do still serve the community here. Charity begins at home, and home is eMalahleni to me. As August is Women’s Month, my main focus is a sanitary drive for underprivileged females without access to proper resources. I’m also constantly active with the Cansa community and have recently partnered with one of my sponsors to start monthly drives for schools and children’s homes in need.”

As a model and exceeding in the field, there are a lot of stereotypes and people tend to sum up these individuals very quickly.

“In my opinion, any form of stereotyping creates an unnecessary negative image of the situation. It is ironic, though, how most stereotypes are created by individuals who have not attempted to learn about or get involved in the pageant industry. Once people become more open-minded and get involved with what happens after the competition, they will see how this is not only about beauty, but rather beauty with a purpose. There is absolutely no limitation to what you can do if you believe in yourself. The biggest critic is you. You will never be happy, truly happy if you live to please society. True happiness is found within, so be content with who you are, and your opportunities will be endless.”

Besides winning the title of Miss Diversity 2022 in Dubai, Logan is a professional dancer with 21 years experience.

She also loves to run and play netball, go hiking and be active in the community.

“The next competition is underway already and will run until December 2022. That is Miss Glam South Africa 2022. After that, I will focus on fulfilling my current reigning duties of my current reigning titles, until Miss South Africa 2023. I dedicate this title to my late mother, Retha Pretorius. She was well known and an abundantly loved woman in eMalahleni. The legacy she left in the community is still clear, and I’m extremely proud to have fulfilled one of the biggest dreams she had for me. I thank my brother, Vaughan and my incredible father, Marius for being my strength through it all.”
