ActionSA making big strides at TUT

ActionSA are holders of the presidential seat of the Government of Campus Unity (GCU) at TUT.

With only four years in Mpumalanga, one year at Tshwane University of Technology (TUT), and now holders of the presidential seat of the Government of Campus Unity (GCU) – it has been an impressive journey for ActionSA.

On Saturday, August 29, 2020, ActionSA was formed in Mpumalanga by president Herman Mashaba, and this year they have gone from strength to strength. In 2023 the students chapter was launched at TUT eMalahleni Campus, where they secured one seat in their first student representative council (SRC) elections.

This year, they retained their seat and formed the GCU. MK secured one seat, Sasco secured one and Tutsa secured one seat as well, all forming part of the GCU, taking five seats in total leaving the opposition, EFFSC with three seats, and Sadesmo with one seat.

After joining with other SRC parties, and gaining the upper hand and the presidential seat, they appointed Njabulo Dingane as the first campus president of ActionSA Students Chapter at TUT eMalahleni campus.

“As ActionSA students chapter, we wish the newly-elected president, Njabulo Dingane, a superior and dedicated term to serving the students and our organisation with dignity, transparency, and fairness. We also like to thank all the students who voted for us and gave ActionSA students chapter such a crucial seat and mandate. We pledge our full support to the students of TUT eMalahleni Campus as we also note the challenges that they are facing. Namely, the shortage of student residences, buses, and bursaries to name a few,” commented Tebogo Ntuli, ActionSA Mpumalanga provincial head of students.

This is a monumental achievement for the fledgling group, who plan to spread their wings and their reach to all TVET colleges in Mpumalanga as well as the University of Mpumalanga, as they gear up to make waves and continue striding forward at the 2026 local government elections.
