Jackie Macie sends stern warning to men in eMalahleni

MEC Jackie Macie joined a raid on shops and taverns operating in the CBD.

MEC of Community Safety and Liaison, Jackie Macie, joined the multi-disciplinary force in collaboration with the Emalahleni Local Municipality, SAPS, and Home Affairs alongside various stakeholders in efforts to end criminal activities in eMalahleni.

The office of the MEC issued a report on Friday, September 13, following the handover of brand-new police vehicles donated by Seriti Resources.

“It is heartening to see a patriotic and responsible corporate citizen like Seriti Resources invest in enhancing police work to combat crime and GBV in our province,” the MEC shared.

He also emphasised the importance of men not imposing their masculinity on women and young girls.

The MEC later joined a raid on shops and taverns operating in the CBD.

“This operation resulted in the arrest of over 25 foreign nationals operating without proper business permits and passports. Additionally, two foreign nationals were apprehended with drugs. Several illegal businesses were shut down, including two taverns,” Macie confirmed.

He commended the community, SAPS, Home Affairs, and all relevant stakeholders who united against the criminal activities.

“I wish to urge colleges and university management in eMalahleni to collaborate with SAPS, as it was found that some students are involved in alcohol, drugs, and other illegal activities,” the MEC cried.

Towards the end, he wished to send a stern warning to the criminals and illegal operations in eMalahleni, “Be warned that law enforcement is vigilant and will pursue those who break the law. Let us all work together to maintain peace and security in our communities,” Macie ended.
