Miane’s chance at childhood

Miane needs your help paying for her life-changing surgery.

Earlier this year WITBANK NEWS reported on Miane Swart and now, after years of grueling seizures and endless hospital visits, she was finally approved for a life-changing Vagus Nerve Stimulator (VNS) operation. This revolutionary device, akin to a tiny pacemaker, was implanted in her chest, with wires leading to her brain stem to prevent seizures and grant her a chance at a seizure-free life.

For Miane’s family, the surgery, which took place on Friday, September 27, was a long-awaited reprieve from the constant stress and fear that had gripped their lives. As they approach Miane’s tenth birthday on Monday, November 11, they dare to dream of a celebration free from the shadow of seizures.

Through every trial, Miane’s family has clung to their faith in God, trusting in His plan and provision, “We’re stepping out in faith, believing that God will provide,” says Joleen Swart, Miane’s mom. “We’ve seen God do miracles before, and we know He can do it again.”

Despite their trust, the family still faces a significant challenge – funding the operation. With medical expenses mounting, they urgently need sponsors to help cover the costs.

“We’re not just asking for financial support, we’re asking for prayer partners, for people to stand with us in faith, believing that God will see us through,” Joleen explained.

As Miane recovers from surgery, the family invites you to join them in lifting Miane and her family up in prayer, asking for God’s guidance and healing, and consider sponsoring Miane’s operation, helping to alleviate the financial burden, as well as sharing Miane’s story, hopefully inspiring others to support this courageous family. Together, the community can surround Miane and her family with love, support, and faith.

To contribute to Miane’s surgery fund, please see her Back-a-Buddy campaign at https://www.backabuddy.co.za/campaign/miane-swart-pcdh19-epilepsy . Every donation, big or small, brings them closer to their goal. The family is still short over R150 000, but is walking by faith that God will provide for Miane.
