Damage to transformer cable causes water outage

Main feeder cable to transformer damaged, leaving large parts of eMalahleni without water again.

Damage to the main feeder cable has disrupted the power supply to the transformer, causing a critical issue at the Point D command reservoir, leaving large parts of eMalahleni without water.

The damage was noted and pumping stopped earlier today.
As a precautionary measure, pumping had to be halted to prevent flooding, resulting in reduced to no water supply in several areas around eMalahleni.

The affected areas include those serviced by Point A, Point B, Point C, and Point E. The municipal electrical team is working diligently to repair the damage, with an estimated completion time of 12 hours.

In the meantime, all residents are urged to conserve water usage. The municipality apologises for any inconvenience this may cause and will provide updates as the situation progresses.
