Nomsa is pleading for help in finding her car

A woman tells of her terrifying ordeal after she was allegedly hijacked and her brand-new car stolen

A woman’s joyride in her brand-new car was brutally cut short in KwaGuqa Extensions when hijackers allegedly struck and made off with her vehicle. Now, she’s left to pick up the pieces and plead for help in tracking down her stolen car.

“I’m still trying to process what happened,” said the victim, Nomsa Mokoena, her voice shaking as she recounted the traumatic events of Friday, August 30.

“I was so excited to drive my brand-new car home from the dealership. I had just been approved for the vehicle at 13:00 and picked it up at 17:00. I drove straight home. But just hours later, my world was turned upside down.”

According to Mokoena, she was allegedly hijacked by suspects in a white Suzuki vehicle while driving to a complex to get drinks for a celebration.

“They blocked my path with the vehicle, and two of them pointed firearms at me. They forced their way into my car, pushed me to the back seat, and covered my face with a cloth,” she explained.

Mokoena was allegedly held captive for several hours, and subjected to physical and emotional abuse.

“I was released from the shack the following day. However, the two suspects walked with me on foot for a while still blindfolded, and I later became aware that they left me alone in the bushes at Kromdraai. Then I noticed a person whom I asked for directions.”

Mokoena was terrified and helpless. “I thought I was going to lose my life. During the hostage situation, they threatened to kill me.”

The suspects also allegedly stole two phones, her license, and ID.

But the worst part of the ordeal is yet to come – her vehicle is still missing.

“I just want my car back; it was the latest Haval black in color,” she pleaded. The car was last located in Sandton, and Mokoena is holding onto hope that it will be recovered soon. She is desperate for any information that might lead her to her car and is urging anyone with knowledge to come forward.”

The police are investigating the hijacking, but so far, there have been no leads on the whereabouts of the stolen vehicle.

Captain Elizabeth Hlathi from Vosman Police Station said, “Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects is requested to contact the Vosman Police Station on 013 659 8400.”
