4 arrested after foiled CIT robbery

The four suspects were arrested in Vosman today (August 17).

Four suspects aged between 30 and 49 were arrested in Vosman today.

According to the acting provincial commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General Dr Zeph Mkhwanazi the suspects were arrested on the R545 as they were allegedly attempting to rob the cash van.

“The  members were able to intervene and prevented the attack on the security cash truck. The suspects then fled the scene in several other vehicles.

A high-speed chase ensued, with law enforcement agencies successfully stopping the suspects in the Vosman policing area,” Mkhwanazi explained.

He also added that during the arrest, the suspects were allegedly found in possession of three AK-47 rifles with six magazines, 134 live ammunition, one 9mm pistol with two magazines, and 27 live ammunition.

“The suspects will face multiple charges, including possession of prohibited firearms, possession of presumed stolen vehicle, and conspiracy to commit a robbery,” Mkhwanazi said.
