Man is at loss for words as neighbours rally behind him after devastating fire

The devastating fire left the Mnyambo family without clothes and bedding but lots of kindness and love from their neighbours.

“There are no words to express my gratitude toward my neighbours. They have shown me that there is still good in the world.”

Mandla Mnyambo expressed his heartfelt gratitude after the top part of his house in Aquarius Street burned down on August 8.

“I have no idea how the fire started. I was at work when I received a call that my house was on fire. I rushed here and found the top part of my house engulfed in flames,” Mnyambo said.

Despite the overwhelming loss, Mnyambo has found solace in the outpouring of support from his community.

Neighbours have come together to provide beds, clothing, and even a fridge, “I never imagined the level of kindness and compassion I would experience during this difficult time. My neighbours are one of a kind.”

Ward Clr Salomi Kriel said Pastor Deon Scheepers from the AGS Oasis opened up the church for donations for the Mnyambo family.

“The Mnyambo family lost almost everything. Being the loving, caring, and generous community that we are, I come to you with the following needs: Mandla and his wife, Ndomiso, need blankets, towels, and clothing for four boys aged 15, 10, eight, and two. Mandla’s clothing size is 32-34, and his shoe size is nine or 10.

Ndomiso also wears size 34 and shoe size four,” was Kriel’s message.

All donations can be dropped off at the AGS Oasis on Buffel Street.

Pastor Deon can be contacted on 083 701 1737.
