Foot found at N4 offramp belongs to pedestrian accident victim

The man's foot was found earlier this week.

A devastating incident once again highlighted the dangers of ignoring authorities’ warnings about crossing highways.

A man was struck and killed instantly by a motor vehicle.

This accident happened on August 4, at 19:00.

The driver of the vehicle was traumatised after the accident.

In a gruesome twist, a passerby discovered a foot, still in a sock, on Tuesday, August 6, which is believed to belong to the victim.

The force of the impact had severed the foot and part of the leg, flinging it off the highway into the grass of the Walter Sisulu and N4 off-ramp.

This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks pedestrians and hitchhikers take when ignoring the law and venturing onto highways.

Not only do they endanger themselves, but also pose a significant threat to drivers who cannot see them in the dark.

Authorities are urging pedestrians to heed their warnings and stay off highways.

“Please, we implore you, prioritise your safety and the safety of others. Pedestrians are not allowed on highways for any reason. It is a crime. These incidents often result in serious injury or death, and we cannot stress enough the importance of responsible behaviour,” commented police spokesperson, Captain Eddie Hall.
