Kagiso sets his sights on a brighter future

“I was elected as chairperson for the first time in my life, much at the provincial scale, so it’s still buzzing to me,” said Kagiso.

Kagiso Kgatle (16), is a shining example of youthful leadership and determination.

As the newly-elected chairperson of the Representative Council of Learners (RCL) at the provincial level, Kagiso is poised to make a lasting impact on his community, “I was elected as chairperson for the first time in my life, much at the provincial scale, so it’s still buzzing to me,” he said.

From the City of Coal, Kagiso has already achieved an impressive milestone. He founded a non-profit organisation last year, dedicated to upskilling and empowering individuals in this community.

As he embarks on his new role as chairperson, Kagiso is committed to ensuring that the RCL is a vibrant and inclusive platform for learner’s voices. His vision is to create a province-wide movement that empowers young people to become active citizens and leaders.

“As I’ve just got elected, I will try to my limit to ensure that our RCL in the province is functional, inclusive, and upholds representation of learners,” said Kagiso.

Kagiso’s story is a reminder that age is not a barrier to making a difference. His leadership initiatives are an inspiration to his peers and a testament to the potential of young people to shape a brighter future.
