Ga-Nala kidnapping suspects remain behind bars

The seven suspects accused of kidnapping a minor in Ga-Nala appeared before the Kriel Magistrates Court.

According to Captain Dineo Sekgotodi from the Hawks in Mpumalanga, suspects were remanded in custody pending investigations.

“Sibongokuhle Nelisiwe  Mkhwanazi (21) , Caleb Kamahelo Sebatane (23), Thabang Elim Mndebele (35), Dineo Masesi Zondo (41), Dumisane Zondo (33), Nkosingiphile Emelda Nkosi (48) and Mpumelelo Patricia Mkhize (42) were remanded in custody by the Kriel Magistrate Court on Monday, July 29,” Captain Sekgotodi explained.

The four female and three male suspects accused of kidnapping a minor at a high school in Ga-Nala on Monday, July 22.

It is alleged that the accused phoned the mother of the victim who is a businesswoman demanding R200 000 ransom in order to release the minor.

The vehicle of the suspects was identified in the vicinity where they withdrew the money.

An investigation led the team to Vorsloorus in Gauteng where the four suspects, were arrested.

The victim was also rescued unharmed. The ransom money was recovered.

“Further investigation led the team to Kriel where another three suspects, a female, and two males were also arrested and detained,” said Sekgotodi.
